The International Outpost started in 2000 under the leadership of Majors Francisco and Carolyn Zuniga. The first meeting place for this congregation was at the former Boys and Girls Club site on Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive. In 2002, the Army acquired the International Corps facility located at 2850 New Walkertown Road and the Outpost quickly grew to Corps status.

The Corps is now named The Salvation Army Citadel Center for Worship and Service as a result of its merger with the former Washington Park Corps.

The Citadel Center for Worship and Service now offers services in English and Spanish.

The New Multi Purpose Building is Ready for Use

Monday, June 27 -- The Salvation Army of Winston-Salem celebrated the grand opening and dedication of a new multi-purpose facility at The Salvation Army’s International Corps and Worship Center at 2850 New Walkertown Road in Winston-Salem.

The new 5,000 square foot facility contains a gym and play area that will serve The Salvation Army International Corps Service and Worship Center in a variety of church and Boys and Girls Club activities.

The new building was designed by Thomas H. Hughes Architecture and built by I L Long Construction Co., Inc. The facility is the second of three projects financed through the 2007 Capital Campaign, chaired by Dr. Nathan Hatch, President of Wake Forest University.
