During the fan drive, customers are asked to donate by rounding up their purchase at the register. All donations collected in the Wake County Westlake Ace stores go toward buying new box fans for The Salvation Army of Wake County. Last year, Wake County customers donated more than $1,920.24 equating to 126 fans given to citizens in need.

“When the Fan Drive started ten years ago, we really had no idea the impact it would end up having on the communities we serve,” said Andy Schmitt, vice president and COO of Westlake Ace Hardware. “The Fan Drive speaks directly to who we are as a company. We are truly humbled and grateful for our partnership with The Salvation Army and look forward to continuing to make a positive impact in the lives of our friends, customers, and neighbors.”

“Summer is a wonderful season, but it also brings life-threatening heat to individuals and families struggling to pay utilities and rent due to pandemic poverty,” said Major Charles Whiten, area commander of The Salvation Army of Wake and Lee Counties. “Westlake Ace Hardware’s annual fan drive will keep thousands of vulnerable people cool and safe despite the heat.”

Donations to the fan drive can be made at any of these Westlake Ace Hardware stores: in Raleigh at 802 Semart Rd., 6196 Falls of Neuse Rd., 10930 Raven Ridge Rd., and 7277 NC Highway 42; in Cary at 2976 Kildaire Farm Rd; in Holly Springs at 509 N Main St.; and in Rolesville at 411H S Main St. If customers prefer to donate online, they may do so at westlakehardware.com/fan-drive. All donations, both in-store and online, stay in Wake County.
