Become a volunteer during disaster training

Hurricane season began on June 1 and runs through November 30, 2021. The Salvation Army of Wake County is looking to recruit volunteers to be part of its disaster team.

When initiating disaster relief, the Army’s first aim is to meet the basic needs of survivors and first responders. The Salvation Army ministry acts as a means of expressing God’s love to those in need. The Salvation Army’s primary goals are to offer emotional and spiritual care, physical support, and material comfort.

The Salvation Army’s Emergency Disaster Services program officially began on September 8, 1900 when a hurricane devastated Galveston, TX. TSA Wake County has continued to serve those in need during disaster and was called into action as recent as August 2020 to help those in need in Lake Charles, LA in the aftermath of Hurricane Laura.

If you have a passion for serving people than consider joining our team. Learn more by reading our EDS brochure and/or contact our volunteer coordinator Thomas Harrison.
