As Phase 1 of Gov. Roy Cooper’s plan to reopen North Carolina goes into effect at 5:00 p.m. today (May 8), The Salvation Army of Wake County will reopen the three Family Stores it operates on Saturday, May 9. The stores have been closed since March 27 do to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The hours for the stores in Raleigh, at 205 Tryon Rd. and 4025 Wake Forest Rd. are 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. The store in Sanford, located at 305 S. Steele St. will be open from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. The stores will begin regular days and hours next week, Wednesday – Saturday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. in Raleigh and 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. in Sanford. The stores will be closed Mondays and Tuesdays to allow for store staff to clean and restock the store properly.
The Donation Center at all three locations will be open Monday – Saturday 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
The stores will have social distancing measures in place including no more than 20 shoppers allowed in the Raleigh stores at one time and no more than 10 shoppers in the Sanford store at one time. Masks are required to be worn.
There will be sales at all three stores. Clothing that is regularly priced at $2.99 and up will be marked down to $0.99. Clothing that is regularly priced $1.99 - $2.98 will be marked down to $0.49. All furniture and wedding dresses will be 50 percent off and all shoes will be marked down to $2.99.
“We’ve been accepting donations the entire time and with the stores having been closed for more than a month, we have a lot of items to sell,” says Jean Temple, director of thrift store operations. “We will have social distancing measures in place and we look forward to seeing and servicing our customers.”
The Salvation Army Family Stores support The Salvation Army of Wake and Lee Counties many outreach programs by turning reusable goods into much needed funding. Proceeds generated by Family Store sales are used to give tangible assistance and offer hope to Wake County and Lee County residents.
