The Salvation Army has long been known for its bell ringing and the ringing of the bells and Red Kettle has already begun at Wake County Lowes Foods locations as well as Bass Pro Shops and Cabela's both in Cary, and Hobby Lobby in Raleigh and Cary.
To make things official, The Salvation Army of Wake County will hold its annual Red Kettle Campaign Kickoff Friday, November 16, at 12 Noon at North Hills in Raleigh (in the grassy area across from the movie theater and near Starbucks). Guests on the program will include Wake County Commissioner Chair Jessica Holmes, Raleigh Mayor Pro Team Corey Branch, Miss Garner and Miss Garner's Outstanding Teen who will share the Red Kettles' history, as well as SAWC Corps Band.
The kickoff marks the beginning of the traditional Red Kettle Campaign, as volunteers and representatives officially begin “ringing the bell” for holiday donations to The Salvation Army at stores all across Wake County. The need for Christmas donations is great as SAWC registered over 7,200 children for its Angel Tree Program (Christmas Cheer Program). The Salvation Army hopes to see an increase in kettle donations to meet this need, as well as an increase in volunteers ringing the bell. The Salvation Army’s programs rely heavily on volunteers. The Red Kettle Campaign is no different.
