#WakeArmy Volunteer Opportunities for the Christmas Season

CHRISTmas is the most wonderful time of the year! We must always remember the reason for the season. Part of our mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ

We have some wonderful volunteer opportunities that we would like for you to consider so that we all can help make Christmas wonderful for those that may be less fortunate.

Bell Ringing: From November 10 through December 23, donate your time at Christmas by ringing a bell in our community to collect money for our Christmas programs. Bell ringing takes place at local Walmart’s, Harris Teeter and other local stores. Shifts are available (Monday-Saturday) all day 10am-8pm or in shifts: 10am-2pm or 4pm-8pm. Click here for more information or to sign up at one of our many locations throughout Wake County.

Angel Tree: Taking place November 10 - December 15, the Angel Tree specifically focuses on fulfilling the biggest need: new clothing. Be a part of making children's Christmas wishes come true by being involved with our Angel Tree! Adopt an angel and purchase new clothes and toys for a child or for a whole family. The Angel Tree locations are Crabtree Valley Mall, Triangle Town Center and Cary Town Center. Click here for more information and to sign up.

Thanksgiving Baskets: As a part of our Food Assistance Program, volunteers can collect traditional Thanksgiving themed food items and create “baskets” starting November 13. Ask for a list of items! This is a great group activity! More information can be found at www.wakearmy.org

Thanksgiving Day Help: This year, we have increased our goal to serve 500 meals to families in need on Thanksgiving Day: Starting 6am until 1pm, volunteers are needed to help prepare plates, organize donations, and serve families in need from our kitchen. Shifts available: 6a-10a, 7a-12p, and 8a-1p.

Fill the Truck!:
Walmart is hosting a day for the public to donate toys to The Salvation Army’s Christmas Cheer Program! Help collect toys for nearly 9,000 children in Wake County. 9am-5pm, 2 hour shifts

Stockings: 9,000 stockings need to be filled with goodies by December 15. A guideline of items to include can be provided, and stockings can be picked up at 1863 Capital Blvd. during regular office hours. Great activity for groups!

Looking for other ways to give back? Gift cards are a great way for us to provide gifts for the families in our shelter. Any amount is welcome and they can be mailed or dropped off to the Center of Hope.
