Here is some of what's happening this week at The Salvation Army of Wake County. Please also keep these events in mind this week as some of these events benefit the community through The Salvation Army of Wake County:
- We hope you had a wonderful holiday weekend and were able to spend time with family and friends. Please continue to keep in mind the people affected by Hurricane Harvey. You can continue to support the relief efforts and get updates on our Website.
- On, Wednesday, September 6, Mellow Mushrooms in the Triangle will be donating 25 percent of all proceeds to The Salvation Army to continue to support those affected by Hurricane Harvey. It's a way to eat good and do good. Please visit the locations in Raleigh, 601 Peace St., Raleigh; 2125 S. Main St., Wake Forest; 4300 NW Cary Parkway, Cary.
- The Salvation Army of Wake County's annual It Takes an Army campaign has kicked off. Since 1887, The Salvation Army of Wake County has been helping those in need in our community, providing shelter for the homeless, relief for those impacted by disaster, hot meals and food supplies for the hungry, structured programs for at risk youth and freedom for those gripped by human trafficking. We have also shared the love of Christ to more than 8,000 children every year through the Angel Tree and Christmas programs.
It takes an Army to meet these ever-growing needs. It takes volunteers giving their time. It takes community partners bridging resources. It takes donors like you putting their compassion into action. Join the Army.
Our goal is to raise $400,000.00 for this campaign. Learn more about how our programs impact the community and then please help us by making a donation.
- The Salvation Army of Wake County's Project CATCH (Community Action Targeting Children who are Homeless) is in need of volunteers for its event at Marbles Kids Museum on Thursday, September 21, 2017. CATCH is hosting parent workshops for their program participants and the clients of their agency. It is a fun time of food, fellowship, parenting support and play for the children in the museum.
Volunteers are needed to chaperone the children as they explore Marbles Museum while their parents attend the workshop. This time is supervised by Marbles and CATCH staff. CATCH requires that volunteers are at least 18 years of age and complete an application and a back ground check for this opportunity.
All volunteers need to arrive at Marbles on the 21st by 5:00pm to participate in a brief Volunteer Orientation. It is very important that volunteers arrive on time as this is the time that assignments will be given out for the evening. Volunteers are also needed to assist with dinner prep and service, which will begin at 5:30.
For more information and to volunteer, please contact Marcia Redd with Project CATCH at 919-834-6733 ext. 152
