The Salvation Army of Wake County has over seven different programs that strive to provide basic human needs for residents of WakeCounty. Between sorting clothing, organizing donations, tutoring kids, coaching teams, serving meals, stacking cans, and helping during Christmas, volunteers gave over 55,000 hours of their time in 2013. To show their appreciation during National Volunteer Week, April 7-13, the Salvation Army of Wake County will hosted a dessert party on Tuesday, April 8 at the Judy D. Zelnak Center of Hope at 1863 Capital Blvd. Volunteers and their families came in between 3pm-6pm for a sweet treat including a candy bar and home baked goods from the staff.
