The Carolinas produces some of the most talented young people in The Salvation Army. Salvationist musicians audition to join our divisional ensembles once a year. Each member is required to be active at their local corps, to have the support of their Corps Officer, and to attend every divisional rehearsal in preparation for special events. This includes Youth Councils and DSA graduation where we demonstrate high quality musical standards and enjoy Christian fellowship.

The Youth Chorus is directed by Assistant Divisional Music and Arts Director, Sam Mhasvi. They perform a range of vocal material from traditional Salvation Army songster music to gospel, a capella and secular song arrangements. Male and female Salvationist singers with a good sense of pitch, music, reading skills, and awareness of singing in harmony are encouraged to audition for the Youth Chorus. The Divisional Youth Band is the flagship brass ensemble for young people in the Carolinas. They are directed by Assistant Divisional Music and Arts Director, Sam Mhasvi. The band has recently appeared in collaboration with Tim Hudson (Yamaha trumpet artist), Carolina Brass and the music department at Gardner-Webb University. They also performed at the Carolina Brass Band Festival in May 2019 and various special ministry opportunities across the division. In recent years the band toured Italy and continue to provide musical support at Youth Councils and graduation ceremonies. Young Salvationist brass players and percussionists, with a high standard of performance ability and sense of commitment, are invited to audition. Click here for audition information.
