THE VIRGINIA SATCHER PIANO STUDIO
The Carolina's Virginia Satcher Piano Studio is a fully functioning piano lab within the Conservatory building. We have 12 working student keyboards, one teacher piano, and 2 smaller practice rooms with uprights for our students to practice in. Pianists can be hard to find, so it is a mission of the Carolinas Music & Arts Department to develop strong players with the ability to sight read, in order to one day accompany our many choruses.
VIRGINIA SATCHER PIANO CLASS AWARD
Left to Right: Captain Jimmy Parrish (DYS), Captain Lacy Parrish (DYS), Noelvie Ngouaka (winner), Sam Mhasvi (Acting DMD)
Each year at the Carolinas Music & Arts Conservatory Graduation, one piano student is awarded the Virginia Satcher Piano Class Award. The winner of this award is a student who has worked hard over their time at conservatory, shown progress and improvement, has an excellent work ethic, and is passionate about their craft.
The 2018 winner of the Virginia Satcher Piano Class Award was Noelvie Ngouaka from Raleigh, NC.
Piano Offerings, Volumes 1 & 2, are collections of piano literature for worship services and classroom instruction for the beginner to intermediate student. Both volumes were written by Kathy A. Sipe and Edited by James Curnow. Volume 1 is general music for any time of year, while Volume 2 (pictured) focuses on Christmas music.
These simple arrangements are excellent ways to get young pianists to play in a worship service.
