The Salvation Army of High Point will celebrate the start of the 2021 Red Kettle Campaign with free hot chocolate and coffee, pictures with Salvation Army Mascots Sally Ann and Captain Kettle, and Christmas Songs played by the local Salvation Army Brass Band! This year, The Salvation Army of High Point’s red kettle goal is $130,000 in order to continue helping local families in need through the upcoming year. Red Kettles can be found at dozens of your favorite business locations around the city of High Point now through December 24th.

“The money raised in the Red Kettles enables us to provide hope for families and individuals in financial crisis, not just at Christmas, but throughout the entire year ahead,” said Captains Lars & Ingrid Ljungholm, Commanding Officer for The Salvation Army of High Point. “In order to meet the increased need we are seeing caused by a second wave of COVID-19, we need the community’s help to reach our goal so that we can continue helping local youth through our character development programs, offer food for empty tables, and provide safe shelter for families in need.”

This year, The Salvation Army is continuing to offer more options to make giving back easier and safer than ever for donors during the Christmas season! In addition to all bell ringers wearing masks and using personal protective equipment at the kettle, donors can also make a gift to our virtual red kettle via QR code on every iconic red kettle in the greater High Point area! At the kettle, donors can simply open the camera on their smart phone and focus on the QR code. Smartphones will automatically pick up on the QR code and help donors donate online through the Virtual Red Kettle! NFC Tags will also be added to every kettle this year, allowing donors to use Apple Pay, Google Pay, Venmo, and PayPal in addition to cash donations.
