NC Child Hunger Leaders Conference

On February 15th, The Salvation Army of High Point Social Services team attended the 2018 NC Child Hunger Leaders Conference sponsored by No Kid Hungry NC.

The one-day conference focused on addressing childhood hunger for school-aged children especially during the summer months. NC Attorney General Josh Stein and First Lady of North Carolina, Kristin Cooper were guest speakers for the conference.

The Social Services team will begin looking at innovative ways to address food insecurities with local seniors and school aged children, specifically during the summer months.

Antoine Dalton, Director of Social Services at The Salvation Army of High Point, explained, “We are now gathering data and conducting surveys to determine the benefits of seniors placing food orders in advance, so that we can better accommodate their dietary needs. Our team, is also exploring ways to partner with Title 1 schools to provide their families with food assistance in a designated area during the summer months”.
