As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, more and more families are impacted by loss of employment and a reduction in finances. The Kicks for Kids program links children in Henderson county schools who are in need with sponsors in the community to provide a new pair of sneakers for the school year. 2020 was the third year for the Kicks for Kids program and 134 children were registered. This year Champion Hills, Awaken Hair Design, Bold Rock Cider, Shaws Creek Baptist Church and the Lions Club of Hendersonville gave their time and finances to assist children in need. We appreciate their generosity and willingness to help those in need.—Emily Sherlin, Social Services Director

Despite the unknown of what Summer Day Camp would be like due to COVID-19, we have been up and running since June.
We have been playing, crafting, playing, learning, playing and playing some more! This summer we’ve learned about nine countries, made great use of our awesome playground and Sgt Gardin of the Hendersonville Police Department came and joined us for our annual bike rodeo! He went over bicycle safety, helmet rules and made sure our bikes and helmets were in riding condition and fit correctly. Our last week of Summer Day Camp will be a full week of FUN! Spirit Days, Piñatas and parties are on the agenda! On August 17th we begin our new Fall Camp to fulfill the needs of the people in our community as the school system moves into a virtual learning session to begin the school year. —Christina House, Senior Program Director
