The Salvation Army will host a clothing drive during the week of August 14-19 in celebration of National Thrift Store Day on Thursday, August 17. Donation bins will be provided at all Salvation Army locations in Greenville, Pickens and Oconee Counties during the week. The community is encouraged to drop off their unwanted clothing items at any Salvation Army location. Locations include The Salvation Army Ray & Joan Kroc Corps Community Center, Kroc Tennis Center and all Family Stores.
When sold in Salvation Army Family Stores, donated goods create revenue to fund life-changing programs. The Salvation Army Family Stores are a critical part of our community. Because the stores are fully operated by The Salvation Army, all of the proceeds go directly into charitable work. The Men’s Rehabilitation Program, which changed the lives of over 72 men last year, is primarily funded by the Family Stores. Not only do the stores provide funding, they also create employment opportunities to program graduates who are ready to start a new life. The Salvation Army also offers Family Store vouchers to clients in need of clothing.
“We are very thankful for the community's support of our Family Stores” shares Major Pete Costas, Area Commander. “Clothing really is the bread and butter of our stores, and the revenue generated from the clothing is used to provide resources for individuals in recovery. Your donations truly matter!"
