Kroc Center Receives USTA Award

The Salvation Army is Greenville, SC is proud to announce that the Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center Tennis Center has been selected as one of 12 winners of the United States Tennis Associaton's 33rd annual Facility Awards Program! This award recognizes excellence in the construction and/or renovation of tennis facilities throughout the country.

The Kroc Center offers a tennis center with 16 courts including eight clay courts and eight hard courts. With more than 700 members, plus day-pass play, the tennis center has the most USTA league play in the Upstate of South Carolina. Eight teaching pros coach over 200 juniors and offer a full slate of adult lessons, clinics and team practices. The facility also hosts several USTA sanctioned tournaments.

"We are very proud of the Kroc Center for receiving this award,” said Area Commander, Major Kent Davis. “The tennis center offers the Greenville community a state of the art tennis experience with a top notch staff, and we are very grateful for the recognition.”

Facilities were judged upon the following criteria: overall layout and adaptation to site; excellence of court surface and lights; ease of maintenance; accommodations for players, spectators and press/officials; aesthetics; graphics; amenities such as casual seating for spectators, food services and social areas; and the facilities’ participation in USTA programs.
