Today The Salvation Army celebrated the Grand Opening of its new Family Store in Taylors, SC. The rainy weather did not stop the Taylors community from coming out to show their support for the new store. The Greer Chamber of Commerce was present to conduct the official ribbon cutting. Advisory Board Member, Mr. Dan Boling, encouraged the community to shop and donate. Major Kent Davis and Lt. Rob Dolby spoke about why family stores are such an important part of The Salvation Army’s mission to do the most good.
“We are thrilled to see this huge turnout today,” said Major Kent Davis. “By donating and shopping, people are giving back to the community and helping others who are ready to turn their lives around."
Family Stores are such a major part of the work of The Salvation Army. They provide affordable clothing and household items, fund essential programs and provide employment opportunities. Last year in Greenville, 161 men completed the rehabilitation program which is funded by the stores.
The store is off to a great start and is full of gently used clothing, home goods, furniture and much more. The location is 5152 Wade Hampton Blvd, in Taylors, SC. It will be open Monday-Saturday from 10-9. For information about donating items, please call 864-534-1605.
