Details: National Salvation Army Week was first declared by President Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1954. Every year, Salvation Army offices across the nation celebrate our history and our services to the community.
National Donut Day
Date: June 4
Details: On National Donut Day, The Salvation Army celebrates our history of service! In WW1, Salvation Army volunteers, nicknamed Donut Lassies, served freshly-made donuts to soldiers at the frontlines of the war. In 1938, National Donut Day began as a way of celebrating the Donut Lassies and the sweet treats they served.
