The Salvation Army School of Music and Arts
The Salvation Army School of Music and Arts of Greensboro, NC is an intensive program for young people wishing to develop their musical talents. Classes during the school year are from September to May. In the summer, The Salvation Army School of Music and Arts holds a Summer Day Camp that is seven weeks long.
Who May Attend
The Salvation Army School of Music and Arts is open to students ages 8-13.
All students of The Salvation Army School of Music and Arts of Greensboro, NC will be able to take classes in band or percussion and guitar or piano.
Band – Students learn to play mainly brass instruments: cornet/trumpet, baritone, euphonium, trombone or tuba. Other band students are encouraged their own flute, clarinet Saxophone etc. Students will be grouped according to their ability.
Percussion – Students will have the opportunity to play tuned and untuned percussion instruments; snare drum, bells, etc.
Piano – Group setting classes where students will learn basic music reading skills, fingering and introductory piano techniques. As each student continues, they will build onto these basic skills. Our piano lab is set with 8 keyboards.
Guitar – These classes are in a group setting that introduces each student to tune their guitar, read music, and playing. Guitars are provided however, if a student has their own guitar, they may bring it.
Classes are held every Monday from 5:15 – 6:45 p.m. (During School Year)
Summer Camp Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
All of The Salvation Army School of Music and Arts classes take place at The Salvation Army Greensboro, Center of Worship, located at 1001 Freeman Mill Rd. Greensboro, NC 27406
Transportation is not available at this time.
Instruments are assigned to each student attending The Salvation School of Music and Arts. If the student have their own instrument, they are encouraged to bring and use it, but it is their responsibility and The Salvation Army will not be liable if it is stolen or damaged.
$25 registration fee is due with the application.
The cost to attend The Salvation Army School of Music and Arts is $75 per student per semester. The sibling rate for each semester is an additional $60 per child in the household
In order to secure a place in the program, complete and submit a student application form with the $25 registration fee, along with a copy of the student’s most recent report card. The report card will only be used for statistical purposes.

Registration Fees are due with all applications. Fall Registration fee carries over to spring.
Last Day to Register for each Semester:
Fall: October 14, 2019
Spring: February 24, 2020
No application will be processed until the registration fee is paid.
Applications will be taken on a first come, first serve basis. Spaces for the program are limited, so please turn in your application as soon as possible. We will notify applicants on acceptance to the program soon after we receive their application. If all spots are filled, students will be placed on our waiting list and called as space becomes available. Once a student is accepted, they are automatically registered for the remaining school year semester. Applications are accepted throughout the year.
