• Did you know that National Donut Day was first celebrated by The Salvation Army in 1938 to raise funds for people in need during the Great Depression, as well as honor Salvation Army “donut lassies” who fed the tasty confection to American soldiers during WWI as a quick treat on the front lines? The tradition continues today as The Salvation Army hosts a variety of events nationwide, including free donut and coffee giveaways.
