Giving Cans to Reduce Hunger in the Triad

Millions of cans of food have been donated to The Salvation Army since 1987 to help the people who need us most. The annual FOX8 Old Dominion Holiday Concerts havebecome a Piedmont tradition while helping fight hunger in our community. The concert series is held here is Greensboro, at the Greensboro Coliseum, in Winston-Salem, Lawrence Joel Veteran Memorial and in Burlington at Williams High School. The concerts feature the magnificent Greensboro and Winston Salem Symphonies and the entrance fee is canned good donations benefiting The Salvation Army food pantry.

Food donations from the concerts help us feed hungry families and individuals who come to us in a time of need. Last year, we provided more than 2,000 grocery orders through our Center of Hope Crisis Assistance Program at The Salvation Army of Greensboro.

The need for food over the past years has risen across the Triad, so we need your help to collect more canned goods! FOX8, Old Dominion Freight Line and The Salvation Army are reaching out to local businesses to participate in an eight week campaign concluding with the concerts.

Triad Holiday Food Drive

Please consider having your business participate in this cause. The goal for each business should be at least 15,000 cans of food or a minimum of $5,000 (which The Salvation Army will use to purchase canned goods).

Participating is easy! Here’s how:

  1. Register Online:
  2. We deliver the boxes for your company collection
  3. We pick them up at the end of the food drive (December 1st)

The deadline to sign up and participate is November 16th, yet we are delivering boxes as we speak.

Canned goods

It’s great to get your children involved in the Triad Holiday Food Drive!

Consider giving your employees incentives to collect the most amount of canned goods possible. Each participating business will be recognized by FOX 8 with on air announcements, on the Holiday Concert programs, on the Triad Holiday Food Drive website and on FOX8 social media.
