Ways you can help

  • Prepare the service line for lunch or dinner
  • Wrap forks and napkins
  • Greet diners as they come through the line
  • Put food on the trays to serve to the diners
  • Fill drink cups
  • Remove trays when diners are finished eating
  • Refill drinks as needed
  • Sweep and mop floors
  • Clean tables and chairs
  • Wash dishes
  • Empty trash

Requirements

  • Age: 18 and older permitted by themselves; under 18 must be with a responsible adult such as a parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle, or teacher
  • Criminal background check: Required
  • Volunteer application: Required
  • Safe From Harm Training: Required

All applications MUST be picked up at Administrative office at 220 E. Russell Street to fill out the appropriate paperwork

How to Dress

  • Wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes with a good grip as you will be walking on slick kitchen floors
  • Refrain from wearing shirts with controversial messages or images
  • Suggested jewelry restrictions: limit earrings to small studs; limit rings to wedding bands; limit necklaces to small chains with small or no pendants; bracelets are not recommended
  • Things to keep in mind: You will be required to put on gloves, an apron, and a hairnet (all provided for you by The Salvation Army), so plan your apparel accordingly
