Imagine waking up on Christmas morning, pouring your coffee, and smiling to yourself because of Ethan.
Who is Ethan?
He's the little boy whom you adopted off The Salvation Army Angel Tree at Cross Creek Mall a few weeks ago. You carefully looked through the names, searching for just the right one. They all tugged at your heart strings, but Ethan's tag connected with you.
Ethan is a six year old little boy who loves firetrucks. You remember your own obsession with firetrucks and firemen at his age, and you love that his main wish for a gift this year is to receive a Fireman costume. This is the one, you think to yourself as you carefully pluck the tag off the tree and store it in your poclet.
The next day you headed to the store and found the perfect toy Firetruck with real lights and sounds and a hose that actually sprays water. And on the next aisle over, a shiny new fireman costume complete with a hat and badge.
As you stand in line at the checkout, you wondered about Ethan. What kind of life did he have? What will he grow up to be? As you pay for the items, you said a little prayer for him and his family. Then you dropped the toys off at the Angel Tree in the mall.
Now it's Christmas morning. As you sip your coffee, that smile lingers on your face as you close your eyes and see Ethan rushing to his living room to find that "Santa" had not forgotten him. You picutre his excited face when he sees the fireman costume for the first time. You imagine him wearing it all day, not wanting to take it off. You even chuckle when you think about his mom chastising him for spraying water on the "fire" in the cat's bowl.
But most of all, you wish Ethan and his family to have hope this Christmas. You pray that they know that there are people in our community who care. And as you begin your own Christmas festivities with your own family, you carry Ethan with you in your heart.
Across town, Ethan and his mom sit down to their Christmas meal together, and they say a prayer of thanksgiving for their angel who helped warm their hearts this year.
You can make a difference in a child's life this Christmas!
