The value of a volunteer hour is a whopping $24.14. When you volunteer with us, you are supporting us not only with your service, but you are helping us reserve funds for programs that Do The Most Good in our community.
New to The Salvation Army? Check out our volunteer guidelines for some helpful information!
The Salvation Army is known for our famous Red Kettle Bell Ringers throughout the Christmas season. They ring bells at locations all around the community as participants in our largest fund-raising effort of the year. While this fund-raiser happens only during November and December, the money raised goes directly toward keeping our programs running year-round. Programs like our Food Pantry, that feeds the hungry in our community; our Boys & Girls Club, that keeps your children safe in the afternoons and summer months; Pathway of Hope, that works to break the cycle of poverty in families in Durham. Join us as we work to Do The Most Good in Durham by ringing a red kettle with your family or organization. Check back soon for our 2017 location list!
Our Food Pantry utilizes volunteers to help organize our donations and keep everything running smoothly. In order to expand our reach, we need you!
Help sort through donations at our Family Store! We are always seeking volunteers to help in our Store. Groups (up to 20 people) are welcome to serve together here!
Our Boys & Girls Club After-School program is currently seeking volunteers for our tutoring program from 3:30-5:00PM, Monday-Thursday.
We offer community service work opportunities for those who need it. We believe in offering an opportunity to turn an unfortunate experience into a chance to Do The Most Good. Unfortunately, we do not currently offer opportunities for larceny/theft related charges.
