In 2017 alone, The Salvation Army of Durham served more than 3,000 individuals through our Christmas assistance programming. This would not have been possible without the generosity of our donors and community partnerships. Our goal each year is to ensure that families feel loved and supported during the holiday season. Whether that is providing Christmas presents for children, warm winter clothing for families, or helping parents keep food on the table, we want you to know that we are here.
Families will register for Christmas Assistance by signing up through our Social Services department. Our team ensures that they qualify for the program by reviewing various financial statements. Once that process is complete, our team will record the "wish list" for each child. These children are then sponsored by our many community partners who will purchase clothes, toys, and other gifts. Once the gifts are returned to us, we are able to distribute them to the registered families!
Take a look at our qualifying requirements for families who are interested in Christmas assistance. You must bring all of the listed items when you come to register for assistance. Please note that this program only provides gifts for children ages 0-12.

The Salvation Army of Durham has partnered with Sheetz to bring you the greatest Christmas party...ever! Thanks to various fundraising efforts of Sheetz employees, we are able to make the holiday season brighter for these children. Sheetz employees from every Sheetz operating volunteer to participate in the annual shopping days. Then we hold special parties in each of our districts, where Santa presents the children with gifts purchased specifically for them. Along with the presents, children enjoy food, crafts, games and pictures with Santa. Since inception of the program over $13.5 million dollars has been raised For the Kidz!
Families from Durham, Orange, or Person counties can register for the Sheetz Christmas Party by calling our Social Services office. They will set an appointment with you to ensure that you qualify for the program. Once that process is complete, you will be able to share a "wish list" so that the Sheetz crew can go shopping for your child!
