The Salvation Army of Durham Collects School Supplies for Back-to-School Event

Each year The Salvation Army of Durham, in collaboration with several others, hosts a Back-to-School event where the main goal is providing school supplies for youth in East Durham. Bookbags filled with school supplies are handed out at this community day event and this year, it is even more special with a record breaking goal of one thousand bookbags.

With this being one of the first in-person events post COVID-19 for The Salvation Army of Durham, they have gone above and beyond to ensure the event is both safe and special for all who attend.

On Saturday, August 14th, 2021 between 12-4pm at Eastway Elementary, The Salvation Army of Durham and others will have its 6th annual "Stars In the City" Bookbag Drive and Community Day. The event will feature bounce houses, food, a live DJ, vaccines, vendors, and more- ALL FREE!

If you would like to donate monetarily to the event, text "BGCALLSTARS' to 4144. Otherwsie, feel free to drop off school supplies during business hours to The Salvation Army of Durham (909 Liberty St.) between now and August 13th, 2021.
