The Raging Bulls Deliver Toys!

At The Salvation Army of Durham, we have a lot to be thankful for, and it extends way beyond the Thanksgiving holiday! Each year, we are blessed to be visited by the Raging Bull Harley-Davidson riders during their annual Toy Ride!

The crew registers in the morning, and then rides in from their shop to our Corps, donning leather jackets and revving the engines on their Harleys. It truly is a sight to see! Following behind is a trailer full of Christmas toys that they have collected and donated in anticipation for this event.

The Salvation Army staff wait anxiously for their arrival; when we hear the blaring engines we know they are close! The trailer pulls into the parking lot and they immediately get to work. The riders formed an assembly line and began passing the toys to each other, ensuring that each toy makes its way into our building safe and sound! The comradery among the riders is obvious; they laugh and joke and work together as they work; they even stopped for a moment to smile for a few photos!

After they finished unloading their toys, they gathered around Captain Robert Viera as he thanked them for their gifts. "You are giving Christmas to children in our community. We could not do it without your generosity." Well, the generosity didn't end there. The leader of the group presented a check to Captain Viera, explaining that they raise money to give to a charity of their choice each year, and they wanted The Salvation Army of Durham to be the recipient. Of course, we gladly accepted!

We could not provide Christmas for families in our community without the support, partnership, and generosity of community partners like the Raging Bulls! We could not keep our doors open without these community organizations coming together to support our mission. We are so thankful for you all!
