With Summer break winding down and a new school year beginning, it’s time to celebrate! On August 19, Sky Zone Durham will host “GLOW for Charity,” which will benefit The Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club of Durham and Next Level Veterans Outreach Campus of Durham.

“GLOW” at Sky Zone is a relatively new development, with their first official GLOW jump happening on August 12. These events will feature a live DJ, body paint, LED lights, lasers, and more! The Salvation Army is especially excited about this partnership. “We are always looking for new ways to get out into the community,” says Tammie Sellman, Community and Resource Development Director for The Salvation Army of Durham. “Our Boys & Girls Club is facing the threat of closing its doors for lack of funding, so events like this are not only a great community event, they are an absolute necessity for our organization.”

The Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club of Durham has experienced major cuts in funding from partners in the last year. While this has taken a severe toll on our Club, we are working diligently to ensure that we can continue to keep our programs running and our doors open. In our community, organizations like The Boys & Girls Club are needed now more than ever. This partnership with Sky Zone Durham is a way for The Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club to raise awareness about their extreme need, as well as build new, local community partnerships. Elizabeth Anglin, Sales and Community Outreach Manager for Sky Zone Durham, said, “We strive to be active stewards within our community, not just a business.” We could not agree more, and we are so thankful for how they have joined us in partnership.

Sky Zone Durham has offered to donate a portion of the revenue from their event on August 19 to The Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club, as well as Next Level Veterans. Next Level Veterans Executive Director Captain Newborn is excited about this event as well. “Every two minutes, we lose a veteran to suicide. Our organization will not rest until that statistic changes. Sky Zone Durham is helping us raise awareness and funds to ensure that we can continue to change the lives of the veterans in our community.”
