During the Holidays, You Can Make a Difference
When you see one of The Salvation Army's iconic red kettles, and hear the ringing of bells, you can be sure that Christmastime is here. As we all prepare to celebrate with our families, many in our community struggle to make ends meet. Some need help with providing food or a shelter for their families. Others fear that they won't be able to see the joy on their Children's faces on Christmas morning.
You can make a difference and bring all three – food, shelter, and joy – to families this Christmas season.
Start Your Own Kettle
Whether you want to help feed families, to make sure they have a roof over their heads, or to simply make their Christmas a special day. Choose your Red Kettle Reason and ask your friends to help you make a difference today.
Make A Donation
The Salvation Army uses the donations that it receives from people like you to make a difference in people's lives. The money that we collect is used to provide food, shelter, clothing, and more to people in your own community.
The History of the Kettle
In 1891, one Salvation Army officer who needed to find a way to provide meals for hungry people in his neighborhood had the idea of asking the public to contribute by dropping money in a bucket. Today, The Salvation Army Red Kettle is used to help provide for the 30 million individuals that need our help each year in the United States.
Extending beyond the holidays, when you contribute to the Red Kettle, you are providing shelters for families, addiction recovery, after-school programs, summer camps, services in response to disasters, and more. You help make a difference – all year round – for people in your community.
