Emergency Assistance: providing assistance with utilities, prescriptions, and other needs.
Food, Clothing and Lodging: providing assistance to families and individuals facing temporary financial difficulty due to job loss, illness, fire or other disaster.
Seasonal Assistance: providing food, toys, gifts, clothing and cheer to needy children and adults during the Christmas holidays.
Visitation and Care Packages: supplying basic toiletry items for shut-ins, prisoners, shelter residents and disaster victims.
Summer Camp: affording children and senior adults the opportunity to attend The Salvation Army’s residential camp near Denton, NC, for a time for spiritual growth, fellowship and recreation.
Information for Clients
Scheduled appointments are required for financial assistance. Walk-ins for other purposes are permitted, however, scheduling an appointment in advance ensures that you will have all of the necessary information about documentation that is required.
For Emergency Assistance, clients will be asked to provide:
- Driver's license or a picture ID card
- Proof of household income
- Original bill
A caseworker will meet with you to collaborate on how your needs may be met. While all information we receive is confidential and protected, in order to better serve you better, certain information must be verified and shared. Any agency with which this information is shared must also respect the client's right to privacy and maintain the information in a confidential manner. Financial assistance is provided once a year from the client's application.
The Chatham County Service Unit also provides a Food Pantry and is available for client's needs provided items are available.
