Charlotte Salvation Army starts program bringing employment resources to shelters

The Salvation Army's Center for Hope Shelter said they are struggling and there is not enough space for people coming in the door.

Now, they are turning in a different direction to address homelessness with a job readiness course.

It is a brand new initiative at the shelter, which has always connected people to employment programs, but now, brings the resources to them.

"We have to really get people prepared to be able to make a living wage so they'll be able to work and afford housing in the Charlotte market," Deronda Metz said.
