We know that Charlotte has the best fans in football, and we want to show Denver that we support the youth in the Charlotte community, too.

End of The Year Giving

As another year comes to an end, we’ve witnessed a tremendous amount of life transformation at The Salvation Army of Greater Charlotte. Every day, people are discovering hope, dignity, and a renewed desire to thrive and flourish. Each one is learning anew (or for the first time) that he or she is a person of worth, created in the image and likeness of God.

A Thank You to The Community

The Christmas season starts early for The Salvation Army. It begins in October when more than 6,000 families register for assistance through our Angel Tree program. Since that time, the spirit of Christmas was seen all throughout Mecklenburg County.

Merry Christmas

The past several weeks have been a very special time for our family. Early in the morning on Nov. 28, our first grandson – little Nate – was born into this world. This wonderful event in the life of our family caused me to reflect on that special birth more than 2,000 years ago in Bethlehem, celebrated by Christians everywhere.

Have you ever had to ask someone for help? Most of us have. It comes with mixed emotions. On one hand, we know we need to ask. On the other, we may be embarrassed to admit we can’t do it on our own and feel bad for having to even ask.

Seeing Christmas with New Eyes

Like many, I’ve always had an affinity for the work of The Salvation Army, especially at Christmas. Some of it I attribute to nostalgia, having seen the iconic kettles and bell-ringers in all of my favorite old Christmas movies. The rest I contribute to having heard about the work The Salvation Army does in the community.

Tis the season of giving back

This year, they are setting record numbers. Steven was able to raise more than $16,000 and adopt 110 angels, more than doubling the amounts from last year. Last year, they had about 35 financial contributors, this year they had 80, with three checks of $1,500 coming in.

Remember the Children This Christmas

It’s that time of the year, with thoughts of Christmas and all that comes with the holidays. For most people, and especially those with children, it’s a time of giving. Can you imagine a kid, waking-up Christmas morning, with nothing?

You Can Give In Your Pajamas

Have you ever passed a red kettle and thought to yourself, “I don’t have any cash” and walked by wishing you could help those in need? If you have had to walk by the kettle with your head down or you look away from the bell ringer standing in the cold because you wish you could give but your wallet is full of plastic, don’t feel bad. This description fits many of us who live in the world of credit cards and online shopping.
