This week, dozens of Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club members got together to be recognized as Youth of the Month in 2016. Each one of our eight club locations brought their 12 members who received the award throughout the year to 2X Salt Ministry to celebrate the achievement.
Boys & Girls Club council member, Nancy Braun, spoke to the children at the event, “It is a great honor and you are special to be selected. Each and every one of you is an incredible kid.”
What was not lost in the celebration was all the hard work the members had to put in to receive the award. A constant message of, “be a leader and role model for others in the club”, was spoken throughout.
Each clubhouse also selected a Youth of the Year to represent their club. The Youth of the Year exemplifies what the Salvation Army Boys & Girls Clubs aim to instill in its members: academic excellence, leadership and good citizenship. The Youth of the Year for The Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club of Greater Charlotte will be named at our “Great Futures” breakfast on March 7.
