#NationalThriftShopDay is Aug. 17

Wednesday is National Thrift Shop Day, which is a great occasion to stop by one of the five area Salvation Army Family Stores. To celebrate the day, we are serving free Krispy Kreme doughnuts Wednesday morning (only while supplies last). What could be better – a sweet treat, alongside the treat of saving a few dollars on unique items for your home or wardrobe.

While the doughnut supply may not last all day, the deals will. We are offering 25 percent off furniture and electronics, and 50 percent off everything else in the store.

Many people know The Salvation Army for the Family Stores, where they donate items, shop or both. But, many don’t know how the Family Stores are helping people in our community behind the scenes.

Purchases made at our stores provide others with an opportunity to improve their lives, but there is so much more to it than that. In the Charlotte metro area, materials that are donated by community members are collected and sorted before being distributed to our five family stores.

Once an item is sold, the income from that sale will go to support the Adult Rehabilitation Center, which aims to help men break free of their addictions to drugs and alcohol. The residential facility, located on Central Avenue, offers men housing with work, group, and individual therapy to help these men break the chains of addiction, recognize the value of their lives, and learn skills essential for their transition from chemical dependency to independence and self-sufficiency. Men with addictions pay no fee for this help, but give back through their hard work as they turn their lives around.

Every time you donate goods of furniture, clothing, kitchen items, decorative items, automobiles, and miscellaneous items to The Salvation Army, you are helping to fund the ARC.

Join us on National Thrift Shop Day on Wednesday, Aug. 17! Find a deal, eat a doughnut and help a man in our community get his life back on the right track.
