This week, we were thrilled to have volunteers from Elevation Church for their 2016 Love Week. Love Week is all about compassion, unity, selflessness and service. The Salvation Army Center of Hope and Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Charlotte were two of more than 100 organizations that Elevation Church served this week.
Every morning and evening, we were blessed to have members from the church at our Center of Hope serving meals to our residents. Along with serving the meals, they hosted an ice cream social, and our residents had a blast.
On Monday, July 11, members from the Church and Creating Exposure through the Arts (C.E.A.), a non-profit that educates and mentors youth by creating opportunities of exposure through arts, came to the Center of Hope and hosted a makeover/family portrait day for our residents. At the event, you could hear the residents expressing their gratitude:
“O wow, I look like a whole new person.”
“You all make me feel so good, thank you.”
“This is great. I never do my makeup.”
Throughout the week, Elevation volunteers also visited the Boys & Girls Clubs. Each club had nearly 20 volunteers running different activities, including making ginger bread houses with the 6-9 year olds.
Whether you're serving meals to those in need, or sharing a skill with the youth at the Boys & Girls Clubs, there are countless ways for you to give back to your community and offer the priceless gift of your time. Volunteer!
