It's still hurricane season...in fact we are approaching the peak of it. El Niño is very strong, which is why forecasters are still calling for a below average season. This is good news, but one storm in our neck of the woods would be all it takes to make it a bad hurricane season for the Lowcountry.
How can you be prepared? Have a plan and an emergency kit ready now.
Some of the basics in the emergency kit are bottled water, non perishable food, flashlights, batteries, battery operated radio, and cell phone chargers.
And you need a plan of action before a hurricane even heads to the Lowcountry. Where will you go if a storm strikes? What will you do with your pets?
So far this year there have been six named storms and two hurricanes, but the season continues until the end of November.
Be prepared now just in case because like the saying goes...prepare for the worst and hope for the best.
