The Salvation Army has been active in responding to tornadoes that struck in eastern North Carolina this past weekend. This response involves providing physical and spiritual needs to survivors and first responders.
Several homes were damaged and many residents were without power in the wake of the storms. In Elizabeth City, The Salvation Army has focused on helping those in the Meadowlands Mobile Home Park and the Derby Public Housing complex. There we are serving as many as 600 meals per day.
Our personnel have also been active in the Washington, NC area. "For those who lost so much, we’re here to step in and provide assistance to help them get back on their feet,” said Lt. Bruce Rabon, commanding officer in Washington, NC. “It’s our responsibility as an organization to live out its mission of meeting human needs in His name without discrimination.”
