Summer Camp (Monday-Friday, 7:30AM-6:00PM) is our community day camp! Each day is filled with activities that are sure to keep our Club kids busy, and safe. From fishing, swimming, day field trips, and more, summer camp provides these inner-city youths with opportunities they may not have otherwise. The best part? It only costs them $55 a week! Volunteer with summer camp and help run our daily programs!
Some Club members depend on their mentors to guide them through the young years of their lives. For some, you may be the only consistent role model in their life. We take mentorship seriously, with group or one-on-one opportunities available. Mentors spend one hour each week with their mentee(s).
SMART Girls (Wednesday, Thursday, 3:30PM-4:30PM) stands for Skills Mastery and Resistance Training. It is a program that offers young women – ages 8 to 17 – guidance toward healthy attitudes and lifestyles, eating right, staying fit, getting good health care and more. Here at The Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club of Durham, we work to ensure that the girls in our program understand the power and potential they already possess. Through an intensive curriculum, young girls and young women enter our SMART Girls program and are immediately immersed in positive role models, goal setting, reflective activities, and more. Each month, the group focuses on a different theme of development. Powerful and prominent females in our community come to share their experiences and wisdom, and, of course, we have fun!
If you have a special skill that you would like to teach in our Boys & Girls Club, or if you have any questions about our volunteer opportunities, let our Volunteer Coordinator know!
