Each Christmas, The Salvation Army, with the help of hundreds of volunteers and donors, provides toys, food and clothing to our neighbors in need and cares for those otherwise forgotten.
Christmas 2013, we served 23,389 individuals. We distributed 43,333 toys to more than 6,700 children and more than 3,200 food boxes filled with items for Christmas dinner. We distributed 4,831 gifts to shut-ins in nursing homes and correctional facilities. Through the A Cleaner World Give-A-Kid-A-Coat Campaign, we distributed 5,323 coats. The Chick-fil-A Stocking campaign generated 3,412 stockings to share with those in need. None of this would have been possible without the support of the community, churches, groups and individuals who volunteered and donated.
Toys and Food. The Salvation Army helps families in Forsyth, Stokes and Yadkin Counties with toys, food and clothing for Christmas.
Angel Tree. Children in need are provided gifts of toys and clothing through the Angel Tree program. Angel sponsors purchase appropriate gifts and return them to the Angel Tree for distribution. This program is an opportunity for an individual to make a difference in the life of a child in need.
Stockings Program. Pick up and fill stockings with small items for children aged 5 through 12 and return them for distribution through The Salvation Army Christmas Program.
Give-a-Kid-A-Coat. In partnership with A Cleaner World, The Salvation Army collects and redistributes coats to children and adults. Volunteers are needed to sort coats and help with the distribution.
Food Boxes. Businesses, Churches and other civic groups select a food item to sponsor for the food boxes that will be distributed to needy families and individuals at Christmas. For more information, and especially if you would like to become a sponsor, contact us at 336 723-6366.
The Sealy/Fox8 Holiday Concert. This Holiday Concert has become a tradition for thousands of Triad families. It is a great opportunity to hear the Winston-Salem Symphony and celebrate the Season, but it also helps stock The Salvation Army pantries and keeps our neighbors in need from going hungry.
Please consider volunteering or sponsoring at Christmas. We can’t do it without you!
