Faith Chapel

Camp Walter Johnson is expanding its impact on the lives of campers.  The new Faith Chapel and Music Conservatory will serve as the heart for Christian worship at the camp as well as the music education center for developing the talents of youth.  With a seating capacity of close to 1800 the facility will afford all the opportunity to build a personal relationship with Christ.  The Music Conservatory will serve as the core programming component.  With practice rooms and rehearsal halls of varying sizes, the Camp's musical home will serve to empower youth with lifelong talents and the ability to express themselves in the most pure form.  The Faith Chapel and Music Conservatory will also serve as the stage and place of instruction for local, regional, and world-class musicians, many of whom were first introduced to their talents through The Salvation Army.

Why Music?

Music: an art of sound in time that express ideas and emotions in significant forms through the elements of rhythm, melody, harmony, and color.

Arts education aids students in skills needed in the workplace: flexibility, the ability to solve problems and communicate, the ability to learn new skills, to be creative and innovative, and to strive for excellence
Joeseph M. Calahan, Xerox Corporation

In addition to providing a strong foundation for further learning, Music transcends so many aspects of life - from the physical to the spiritual.  It enourages relationships through ensemble playing and performance.  Music ties together people of the most diverse of backgrounds.

It encourages and speaks to the heart.
