The Salvation Army is excited to announce the second annual Red Shield Classic Golf Tournament on Tuesday, September 30 at Cliffs Valley in Travelers Rest, SC. All proceeds will be used to help local families facing hard times. Last year the tournament helped over 43,000 families with essentials such as utility bills, food and rent payment. The income from the Red Shield Classic will support these vital Social Service programs, as The Salvation Army works to replace previous Federal and other funding sources. This year’s tournament also marks The Salvation Army’s 110th year doing the most good in the Greenville community.
This year the tournament will have a few exciting changes. Golfers will be able to experience the very popular Cliffs Valley course. For the players’ convenience, there will be a morning flight starting at 9:00 am and an afternoon flight starting at 2:30 pm. The Red Soiree Luncheon will take place between the two flights and is included in the team cost. Awards will be given to the top three teams of each flight.
“When you bring together a golfer’s love of the game with their desire to help the local community, you have a winning recipe. The Red Shield Classic is just that-golfing with a purpose to help those less fortunate,” states Major Kent Davis.
