Group Volunteer Opportunities

At The Salvation Army, we love to have groups join us for many of the programs we provide throughout the year.  Any groups under the age of 18 require adult supervision.

Angel Tree Distribution (December 16-20, 8:00am-5:00pm):  Families were designated appointment times when they registered for Angel Tree and they will be coming during this week to receive the gifts for their children.  We need volunteers to help us retrieve gifts from their location in the warehouse and deliver them to the families as they come.

Food Pantry:  We have barrels of food brought into the corps office several times a month and when they come in we need the food sorted on to the designated shelves and then put into bags for people who come in needing food assistance.

Santa’s Kettle Bell Ringer (November 22-December 24, Monday through Saturday 9:00am-8:00pm):  It just isn’t Christmas until you hear the Salvation Army bells ringing across town.  The bell ringer will be responsible for standing at the kettle for their allotted time slot.  You may choose to work for as many or as few time slots as you wish.  The slots will be broken into two-hour periods of time.  If you are a member of an organization that is interested in sponsoring a kettle, then your organization will be responsible for making sure your kettle is manned all day long.  You may ring the traditional bell, sing, play an instrument, have a set of speakers with music or whatever it is that you would enjoy.

Thrift Store:  When working in the thrift store, you will be helping sort and organize clothes, shoes and other items that come into the store.  You will help to organize shelves of household goods and may even move around some furniture, if you are able.  You will be helping to make sure that the shelves are stocked and the racks of clothing are full.

Toy Shop Elves(December 9-13, 8:00am-5:00pm):  Santa’s Toy Shop is where all of the toys from Angel Tree are kept.  When volunteering in the Toy Shop, you will be sorting, packaging and organizing toys by the child and families so that when the parents come to pick up the gifts they will already be organized by recipient.
