This Christmas, angels were busy working miracles in the Winston-Salem community.  Since angels are real busy this time of year, God sometimes uses regular people. . .  Real people like . . .

The anonymous donor who wrapped a $3,500 gold and diamond ring inside a twenty dollar bill with a note “In loving memory of Benny and Phyllis” and put it in our red kettle at the K&W Cafeteria on Healy Drive in Winston-Salem.

Another anonymous donor who placed a $3,000 emerald, diamond and gold bracelet in memory of their mother, in our red kettle at Walmart on Peters Creek Parkway.

Volunteer bell ringers who stood in the wind, rain and cold to collect money to reach our goal of $340,600 to support our programs and services year-round.

The thousands of people who attended the Sealy FOX8 Holiday Concerts and donated 700,241 cans of food for hungry families.

Individuals and groups who filled more than 2,900 stockings with toys, candy and other surprises.

The hundreds of individuals and corporate sponsors who shopped for and delivered Angel tree gifts so that 7,071 children would have something to open on Christmas morning.

The Secret Santa who delivered a truck filled with more than $18,000 in toys to our Christmas warehouse.

More than 338 volunteers who rolled up their sleeves at our Christmas warehouse to sort, pack and help give out food boxes, toys and stockings to more than 3,153 families.

Sometimes angels fly close enough that you can hear the flutter of their wings.  We know that many hovered over The Salvation Army this Christmas season. Thank you, Angels!
