The Salvation Army is Busy in Carteret County

The Salvation Army shield is one of the worlds most recognizable and trust-worthy emblems for charitable work, but few people actually know all that The Salvation Army does. In Carteret County, people were amazed after Hurricane Isabel when they saw how many mobile feeding kitchens were in place the next day after the storm. The Salvation Army is a first responder in times of crisis. But did you realize that for many in Carteret County it is as though Isabel is striking daily. When you are evicted from your apartment or told by the power company that your power is going to be cut off, it is just as though Isabel just hit. The Salvation Army is here in Carteret County for people 365 days a year. Even when there are no front page headlines about a crisis, The Salvation Army is daily resolving several. The overall effect of our charitable work is to keep families sheltered, fed and together. When the basic needs of people in crisis are met, the crime rate tends to stay down, AND the community tends to be more vibrant and pleasant to live in or visit.

Needs in our county have increased month by month during 2009, and in some months doubled since the previous.year. If you would like to ring the bell or help with the food and toy drive during this Christmas season, please give us a call at 252-726-7147
