We Help Spread Holiday Cheer to Families Throughout our Community
The holidays are fast approaching and The Salvation Army of Carteret County needs your help now more than ever. It is projected that this year will be one of the busiest for The Salvation Army as we try to meet the needs of many people who have never asked for help before, and have no where else to turn.
What are the needs of our community?
There may be greater needs than you would guess. Last year, in Carteret County alone, The Salvation Army helped 675 people with food and gifts, helping to provide Christmas for children and their families. This is a major feat that can only be accomplished with the generous financial and volunteer support that comes directly from you.
But, we do even more during the holidays. During Christmas 2008, our representatives and volunteers distributed 498 gifts to residents in 15 different assisted care facilities. In addition, we provided 300 gifts to prisoners in the Carteret County correctional center.
The monetary value of this assistance was over $75,000, and this doesn't include other types of seasonal assistance such as the 160 Thanksgiving meal vouchers we distributed. But, in reality, the true value including the hundreds of volunteer hours, and relationships built, and the smiles and gratitude of so many people cannot be measured.
