Local Students Provide Hope for Haiti
Students at Northwest Elementary Moved to Help
Northwest Elementary children completed a service project the week of January 19-22nd for the children of Haiti. Through a partnership with The Salvation Army, students brought in $1 dollar donations all week and placed their love offering for the children and families of Haiti into their classrooms "Red Love Bucket". The school's goal was to raise $500 dollars. Through the outpouring of love from our Northwest families and the community, Northwest Elementary children raised a total of $825.05. This donation was presented to Major Robin Starr of The Salvation Army to be sent directly to Haiti for disaster relief supplies.
We are very proud of the life-long lesson that occurred this week for our children that helping others is truly a rewarding experience. The staff of Northwest would like to thank everyone who participated and helped us with our service project of "Children Helping Children". The 53 students with their love buckets in the photograph represent all of the children of Northwest.
