Give a Kid a Coat
The 2010 Give a Kid a Coat (GAKAC) campaign launched on Friday, October 22, 2010 at 6:00 a.m. The kickoff was located at the 2527 Eastchester Drive A Cleaner World location in High Point. The program, in its 24th year, collects coat donations from local residents to give to needy children and adults throughout the Triad.
Christmas Assistance Applications
The local Salvation Army at 301 West Green Drive will begin accepting applications for Christmas assistance beginning on October 26. Registration is open to qualifying residents who reside in the following zip codes of Guilford County and Randolph Counties: 27260, 27262, 27263, 27265, 27282, 27263, 27350, 27370. Applications will be taken from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. October 26 through the 29.

The Salvation Army Gears Up For 2009 Angel Tree Program
The 2009 Salvation Army of High Point Angel Tree kicks off November 13, 2009 12:00 p.m. This year, the tree will be located on the second floor of the Oak Hollow Mall, near the food court. "We're really excited about the new location," said Captain Vicki Perez. “For the first time, we will be able to light the tree. When the tree is lit, it represents hope for families and children that really need it this Christmas season."

Gifts for Kids
FOX8/WGHP is kicking off its 22nd year of giving back to the community with FOX8 Gifts for Kids. The holiday campaign collects gifts for The Salvation Armies of the Piedmont. FOX8 Gifts for Kids will begin on Tuesday, November 16th on the FOX8 Morning News live from the Lowe's Home Improvement in High Point.
Salvation Army's Cashless Kettles
The familiar, seasonal red kettles of the Salvation Army are receiving a modern makeover this year. While paper money and change donations traditionally filled the buckets, accompanied by bell ringers at various retail locations, the organization revealed a kettle with an attached credit card machine at its annual Piedmont Red Kettle Kick-Off on Friday.
Third Annual "Hammin' It Up"
Last December, despite minimal advertising and promotions, many turned out to the first “Hammin’ It Up” promotion through The Salvation Army. This year's results were even better.
