CHRISTMAS
Each year The Salvation Army provides assistance to those less fortunate in the community. This year, due to the rise in the economy, there was a twenty percent increase in requests for assistance. Meeting this additional need would not have been possible without the generous support of our community. Volunteers rang bells, citizens put money in the kettles, and individuals took angels off the Angel Tree’s.
We would like to thank everyone for the amazing support given to The Salvation Army. Even with the snow storm that took a few days away from our Christmas Kettle fundraising campaign, we were able to meet the increased need in our community.
In 2009 we assisted 964 families with food boxes, 1, 117 children with toys under the tree, visited and provided gifts for 1,707 seniors living in Nursing Homes, as well as 480 individuals institutionalized in jails.
