The Salvation Army's of Greenwood SC serves Greenwood, Abbeville, Saluda, Laurens, Mc Cormick, and Edgefield County and offers a number of services and programs.

Social Services

Emergency Shelter
The Salvation Army Emergency Shelter is the only shelter in Greenwood County serving single men and single women. The shelter serves breakfast and dinner, and provides showers and a laundry facility. Full service case management is available to all residents. Eligibility is needs-based.


Food
Emergency food boxes are available in the afternoon between 2:00 and 4:00 PM from Monday - Thursday. Eligibility is needs-based, applications are required.

Emergency Financial Assistance
We provide emergency and supplementary financial assistance for rent, utilities and emergency travel assistance. Appointments for this kind of assistance are made by phone (864-229-3407).

Christmas Assistance
The Salvation Army provides assistance with toys and food for people in need in Greenwood, Abbeville, Saluda, Laurens, Mc Cormick, and Edgefield Countiy. Eligibility is based on income. (In Saludga, Edgefield and Mc Cormick, please apply through your local Department of Social Services.) In 2009, The Salvation Army's Christmas assistance was extended to 2,498 people, 1,298 of these were children.

Emergency Disaster Services

The goals of The Salvation Army’s Emergency Disaster Services are to minister through material support, physical comfort, emotional comfort and spiritual comfort. The Salvation Army provides food, clothing, shelter and other basic survival needs to victims of disasters (weather, fire, etc.). Disaster Services also supports emergency personnel with food and hydration.

 

Family Thrift Store

Our store accepts donations from the public and re-sell these items at affordable prices. All proceeds generated from sales at our store benefit local Salvation Army programs. Our motto is: When you save money – we save lives.
