Emergency Assistance
HOURS FOR SERVICES - 9:00am-12:00pm MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY
The Salvation Army Center of Hope offers Shelter services, Emergency Financial Assistance as well as emergency food, and clothing vouchers that can be redeemed at our Family Store and Traveler’s Aid. The office hours are 9:00am-12:00pm, Monday through Friday.
SHELTER INTAKE - If you are in need of shelter, interviews are done Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday only.
You must bring with you -
- A current, valid picture ID or driver’s license
- Social Security Cards for all household members
- Eviction notice (if applicable)
- Pay stubs and/or any other proof of income (disability, SSI, child support)
NOTE: Shelter intake process will take at least 1 hour. Please be prepared to wait.
FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE - We only help with past due/disconnection/eviction notices. We do not have funds for deposits. The first time you come to The Salvation Army for any assistance, you do not need a referral. Any time after the first time, you MUST have a referral.
- You must have a valid, current picture ID
- You must have social security cards for all household members (no copies will be accepted)
- You must bring the past due/disconnection/eviction notice with you
- You must have proof of all household income. For example - pay stubs, SSI, disability, child support.
FOOD ASSISTANCE - The first time you come to The Salvation Army for any assistance, you do not need a referral. Any time after the first time, you MUST have a referral. You can only receive food once every three (3) months.
- You must have a valid, current picture ID
- You must have social security cards for all household members (no copies will be accepted)
- You must have proof of all household income. For example - pay stubs, SSI, disability, child support.
CLOTHING ASSISTANCE - The first time you come to The Salvation Army for any assistance, you do not need a referral. Any time after the first time, you MUST have a referral. You can receive a clothing voucher once every three (3) months for three (3) times. After this, you can receive one every six (6) months.
- You must have a valid, current picture ID
- You must have social security cards for all household members (no copies will be accepted)
- You must have proof of all household income. For example - pay stubs, SSI, disability, child support.
TRAVELER’S AID - Services are available on Wednesday and Thursday only from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm. (no exceptions)
To qualify for Traveler’s Aid the client
- Must be 18 years old or older
- Must have an emergency situation
- Must have proper ID (current, valid picture ID and a social security card)
- Must have a contact person to verify the emergency and to pick up the client at the bus terminal upon arrival at destination
- Knows the ticket is one-way
- Is responsible for picking the ticket up at The Salvation Army (showing their picture ID and sign for the ticket)
- Is responsible for their own transportation to the bus terminal
- Must allow 24 hour processing time to receive the bus ticket and be prepared to leave the next day.
