Dear friends:During the 17 years I've lived in North Carolina, I've often donated clothing, furniture, and other items to The Salvation Army. It never occurred to me that one of the people I was helping could be myself. |

I arranged to meet with Salvation Army Social Services Director Debbie Avolin. Her words of wisdom and kindness reminded me of the importance of faith. After listening to her, I was able to participate in job interviews with much more confidence. The Salvation Army gave us two large bags of food, a voucher for clothing, and paid part of my utility bill. I desperately needed appropriate clothing for the many interviews I was going on. Following up on just a few of the referrals The Salvation Army gave us, we got free clothing, financial counseling, and food. |

Let's face it, none of us wants to believe we could lose everything we've worked so hard for, but if you or someone you know does, please remember this letter. It really is a blessing to have a kind soul reach out and lift you from despair. Don't let pride be your enemy; take hold of a helping hand. |

Sincerely,
Marianne
